Dyer's Broom
Genista tinctoria
Dyer's Broom gives the same bright yellows that weld produces, although it contains less dye stuff than weld. Broom is a shrub, taking longer to produce dyes than the annual/biennial weld.
Dyer's Broom seeds and stems have been found in archaeological sites in 9th-11th century York.
