Experiments in Fibre

I'm a scientist at heart and in profession.  I am eager to learn how things were done in the medieval period, but also what variables can't be accounted for.  For example, I have heard reports of certain dyes not being light-fast- but what does that mean really? Does it fade to paler creams, as some medieval finds seem to have, or does it shift its colour?  How fugative is a dye that isn't light-fast?  Will it fade in a month? Or does it take centuries?

Here I have written about a few of my experiments.
